Statement by the Syrian Women’s Political Movement Condemning Israeli Attacks on Syria

As Syrians were just beginning to celebrate the fall of the criminal regime and processing the momentous events of December 8, news quickly spread of the Israeli army advancing toward the center of Quneitra province. This was accompanied by 100 airstrikes on various locations in Syria, including an attack on the security district in Damascus, which cast a shadow of sadness over the joy of Syrians. By the evening of Monday, December 9, Israel had conducted over 250 attacks on sites across Syria, while its forces continued ground advances, reaching as close as 75 kilometers from Damascus, near the town of Hader.
Israel’s justification—that it fears violations of the 1974 ceasefire agreement due to the lack of a unified Syrian army—is nothing more than an empty excuse by an expansionist entity. Such claims appear to exploit the current political and security vacuum to expand into Syrian territory, especially following Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s recent statement asserting that the Syrian Golan Heights is an integral part of Israel and that there is no intention to withdraw from it.
We, in the Syrian Women’s Political Movement, strongly condemn Israel’s aggression against Syrian territory, the attacks on Syrian military sites, and the destruction of military assets and locations, which now belong to the Syrian people, not the ousted regime. We call on the international community to take all necessary measures to prevent Israel from expanding in Syria. Furthermore, we urge the Arab League, of which Syria remains a member, to convene an urgent session at the United Nations to halt Israeli aggression.
Our country is currently undergoing a challenging period of rebirth, requiring time to heal and rebuild after the vast devastation caused by the criminal Assad regime. We appeal to our friends and allies worldwide and to influential states to fulfill their responsibilities by practising pressure on Israel to cease its attacks and prevent its expansion into Syrian territory.
We aim to build a free, democratic, independent, and secure homeland. Any external aggression poses a direct threat to the future of this nation.
Long live a free and independent Syria
