The young women and men in the Syrian Women’s Political Movement, claim a great responsibility towards our homeland and our society and affirm our readiness to contribute to activating the role of young women and men in building and advancing society. We are the driving force of change and the fundamental pillar for achieving a better future, as we aspire to build a Syria that embraces everyone, regardless of their affiliations and ideas, based on the principles of justice, freedom, equality, and human dignity.
We believe in a free and democratic Syria in which everyone participates without exclusion or discrimination, where each component of society has an active and genuine role in decision-making and contributing to all aspects of life—political, economic, social, and developmental—to achieve sustainable peace in which young women and men are the essential group for bringing about the desired change.
We, in the Forum of Young Women Politicians in the Syrian Women’s Political Movement, see that building a new Syria is achieved through:
- A national dialogue based on a common ground that embraces all components and groups of the Syrian people.
- Supporting the political participation of young women and men and providing opportunities for them to contribute to decision-making at all levels.
- Enhancing the culture of dialogue and tolerance by promoting the values of peace and principles of nonviolence, and building bridges of trust between different groups to ensure social cohesion.
- Strengthening the participation of young women and men in sustainable development on a national basis, as they are a fundamental pillar in reconstruction processes and economic stability, alongside their pivotal role in creating community, environmental, and health initiatives to achieve a comprehensive renaissance that considers the needs of present and future generations.
- Achieving transitional justice through the fair and transparent accountability of those involved in violations and crimes, ensuring the rights of victims and reparations for them and their families, which contributes to enhancing trust in future state institutions.
- Young women and men form a fundamental pillar for achieving national reconciliation, strengthening stability, and fostering national partnership, and they have a pivotal role in building bridges of understanding, reinforcing societal unity, and ensuring a sustainable and inclusive future for all.
- Ensuring security stability by disarming unofficial parties.
- Achieving community security by working to disengage young people from armed activities and reintegrating them into society through national programs, in alignment with UN Security Council Resolution 2250 on youth, peace, and security.
- Protecting survivors of detention and their privacy, preserving their dignity, and respecting their suffering. This requires working to provide them with the necessary psychological, social, and economic support. Additionally, it necessitates refraining from exploiting their stories or using their experiences for non-humanitarian or illegal purposes.
We affirm our commitment to building a free and democratic Syria that embraces everyone without discrimination, where young women and men are the driving force for change and for creating a brighter and more sustainable future.
Long live a free and democratic Syria
Long live the great Syrian people
