White Paper Around Consensual Positions Among The Syrian Opposition Political Entities

The Syrian Women’s Political Movement conducted an open and in-depth dialogue with various political entities within the framework of its feminist political track in the period between May and November of 2024, striving to establish broader national agreements on contentious issues related to the future of Syria. Agreements were indeed reached on several of these raised topics, while some contentious issues remain open for further discussion. Especially since the SWPM is committed to addressing all disputes related to these issues without omitting or postponing any of them under the pretext that they are not a priority at the moment, as one of the participating entities stated and argued that the focus (at the time of these discussions) should be on lobbying the international community to implement the international resolutions and exerting pressure on the international community to support their execution.

Today, the Syrian Women’s Political Movement (SWPM) is launching a paper on some contentious issues among Syrian opposition political entities. The Syrian Women’s Political Movement also calls for a Syrian National Conference in Damascus, where Syrians—women and men—can discuss the re-construction of Syria’s future state with an inclusive perspective that ensures the participation of all. We hope that our paper marks the beginning of a comprehensive and inclusive Syrian dialogue.
