On the fourth of December, hundreds of Protesters gathered in front of the governate  building in As-Suwayda, in the city center, in response to the call of activists, to protest against the policies of the tyrannical regime, and the exacerbation of the living and economic crises, which led to the most extreme inhuman living circumstances in the country. 

The regime was quick to respond, as the security forces opened fire on the protesters leaving two deaths and a number of injuries.

The successive catastrophic deterioration of the economy, in a country exhausted by war, and under a corrupt totalitarian rule, is threatening most Syrians, as most of them live below the poverty line, in areas controlled by the regime. On the other hand, corruption and warlords flourished, adding salt to injury to the Syrian situation. 

The delay in the political solution in Syria, and turning a blind eye to the criminal and corrupt regime, threatens to create more crises and disasters for the Syrian people.

We, in the Syrian Women’s Political Movement, declare our support for our people in As-Suwayda, in their rightful demands for freedom and social justice.

We call on the Syrian parties and the international community to assume their responsibilities, and move to accelerate the political transition process, through the full implementation of Security Council Resolution 2254 and all related resolutions, in order to save the remaining Syrian people, and move forward toward a sustainable peace in Syria, unifying the land and the people.
