Recommendations of the project “Women Decide”-Scandinavian tour-May 2022
- updated: June 5, 2023
In the Spring of 2022, the Syrian Women’s Political Movement embarked on a month-long trip of learning to capture insights from the Scandinavian and Nordic experiences of bringing forth a feminist lens to their politics. With the recognition that no state has yet reached full equality, the SWPM was drawn to this region’s general success when it came to fostering an equitable society. While continuing their efforts to capture and share the experiences of Syrian women around the world, the Movement’s leadership sought an opportunity for peer learning from women in Iceland, Norway, and Sweden.
The trip brought forth a number of recommendations that encouraged the Movement to continue growing, sharing, and ultimately, persist in their belief and effort that an equitable and sustainable peace can be built within Syria – and will be built by women.
