The Syrian Women’s Political Movement’s Statement on the Syrian regime’s prevention of holding the National Democratic Front conference
To the Syrians from all the national political forces in our beloved Syria,
The Syrian people have suffered and are still suffering from the arrogance of the ruling Syrian regime, which has been evident through violence and abuse against all components of the Syrian people since the revolution in 2011 and over a period of ten years.
The Syrian Regime prevented the holding of the National Democratic Front conference in Damascus is only one and maybe not the last of its repressive acts and its adoption of aggressive mechanisms to end every attempt at national rapprochement between the components of the Syrian people, and their right to exercise freedom of opinion and political action away from the totalitarian regime’s methodology and authoritarianism.
These practices shall be a clear message to the international community that this regime does not accept any peaceful political movement inside Syria in any way, and that political solutions under its rule will not achieve peace and safety for Syrians inside or outside the country and that it is merely an obstacle to any peaceful democratic transformation in Syria.
The Syrian Women’s Political Movement strongly condemns these repressive practices by the Assad regime, as they are closing in on those remaining free-minded people seeking to find a peaceful political solution that contributes to the salvation of Syrians from the burden of an unjust power-thirsty regime. Let alone the fact that these acts come at a time when our people are in dire need due to the deteriorating economic conditions, including hunger, poverty and economic crisis.
Long live Syria, land and people
