In the early hours of this morning, December 8, 2024, the era of Assad’s tyranny has come to an end forever.
Syrians across all regions and in the diaspora have shared the joyous news: “The regime has fallen… Assad is gone for good.”
On this historic day, the Syrian people will be remembered for their kindness, resilience, and unwavering sense of national pride and responsibility. Neither war nor the threat of division could weaken their determination to liberate their homeland with their own hands.
The Syrian people have earned this moment of celebration. Their revolution has triumphed.
While a long journey lies ahead to build a Syria that is free, just, and dignified—a country grounded in equality and liberties—today marks a moment of triumph and relief. It is a day to celebrate liberation from a regime that ruled for 54 years through intimidation, violence, and oppression, using every form of brutality to crush the will of the Syrian people.
Today, the will of the people has prevailed. Syrians have reclaimed a freedom that will never be taken from them again.
We, the Syrian Women’s Political Movement, extend our heartfelt congratulations to the Syrian people in all their diversity, both within Syria and abroad.
We celebrate the freedom of former detainees and share the joy of their families and loved ones. We congratulate the displaced on their return to their homeland and for achieving the end of dictatorship.
Mercy to the souls of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for this liberation
Long live Syria—free, independent, and united
Long live the great Syrian people
