The Syrian Women’s Political Movement Statement on the Afrin Bombing 28-04-2020

The city of Afrin in the northern countryside of Aleppo governorate witnessed a horrific massacre. dozens of civilians, including women and children, were killed. The explosion that no one claimed responsibility for, occurred in a popular market on April 28, 2020.
The Syrian Women’s Political Movement condemns this brutal crime committed against civilians in the city of Afrin. SWPM holds the de facto forces the legal responsibility of all the Syrian lives wasted in this terrorist aggression that targeted Syrian civilians. As well as holding these de facto forces as the legally accountable for the protection of civilians, as it is its duty to maintain people’s security and safety.
The Syrian Women’s Political Movement calls on the United Nations and the international community to work hard to immediately halt the nine years- bloodshed of Syrians, and to take all necessary measures to protect civilians as a priority throughout Syria.
The Syrian Women’s Political Movement affirms once more that the only way out is to work to return the path of negotiations to achieve stability and end the war that was so long by working to achieve a political transition, Democratization and implementation of Security Council Resolution 2254.
In the end, The Syrian Women’s Political Movement extends its deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to the of the victims and the wounded.
May martyrs rest in peace, detainees and disappeared persons be free, and our great people emerge victoriously.
