The fourth anniversary of the invasion of Tel Abyad and Ras al-Ain carries with it even greater hardship and suffering for Syrians across the entirety of Syrian territory. The regime, along with its Russian ally, is conducting an unprecedented campaign in Idlib, disregarding the safety of civilians. On the other hand, Turkey continues its attacks in northeastern Syria, targeting livelihoods and vital sectors.

We, in the Syrian Women’s Political Movement, reiterate our condemnation of acts of violence, regardless of the perpetrators. Syrians can no longer bear further military escalation, which diminishes the chances of reaching a political solution in accordance with Resolution 2254, ensuring the voluntary and safe return of displaced individuals to their original places of residence.

We affirm that addressing the human rights violations of all parties in all Syrian regions, including Ras al-Ain and Tel Abyad, is both a political and moral duty. The international community, Turkey, and local authorities must work together to ensure accountability for those responsible and provide support to the affected, putting an end to demographic change operations.

While we hold the Syrian regime accountable for the consequences of all escalations taking place on Syrian soil, we remind the international community of its responsibilities towards the Syrian people. This includes adhering to UN resolutions, achieving justice, and upholding human rights towards a future of greater stability and inclusivity, where the rights and dignity of all inhabitants are respected and protected.
